COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Participants will explore the ethical implication of Spiritual aspects of counseling for individuals seeking recovery from Gambling disorder. The challenge to counselors is to be on your own spiritual journey and to use your character and ability to connect with clients to be the lead to exploring spirituality as a tool for Recovery. Participants will also explore the need for connections and surrender and spiritual recovery qualities. No matter one’s personal beliefs about religion or spirituality we strive to meet our clients where they find meaning and purpose.
Objectives:
Participants will learn how to:
- Learn the background of religion and spirituality in counseling practice.
- Learn the qualities of recovery that are also spiritual in nature.
- Explore the biochemistry of mindfulness versus the addicted brain.
- Learn how connection can build neuroplasticity.
- When clients do not identify as religious or spiritual we can still work on values, goals, meaning and purpose.
